20
of the population in Canada requires some type of dental filling at any one time
When a cavity occurs on a tooth, a dental filling, inlay, or onlay may be recommended.
These options differ primarily in the material used and their size.
A typical filling replaces the decayed structure with composite. At Shore we only use Admira Fusion which has no BPA or BPS and has significant wear resistance. It is available in many shades and brightnesses to match perfectly to the remaining tooth.
In certain cases, patients may want added longevity and prevent having to “re-fill” a tooth due to natural wear and tear. In these cases, a ceramic inlay can be fabricated. If the tooth is at risk of further breakage, then a ceramic onlay can be made. Ceramic offers maximum longevity and is very resistant to the wear and tear compared to a standard composite. They are also available in multiple tooth shades and at Shore Dental, ceramic fillings are done in a single visit.
