of adults are recommended to have their wisdom teeth removed
A wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt in the jaw. As humans have evolved to have bigger brains and smaller jaws, wisdom teeth either don’t develop or when they do, they are often squeezed into a jaw that doesn’t have the room for them. Due to this lack of space, many wisdom teeth either partially erupt or don’t erupt at all. Depending on the person, their jaw, and the x-ray of the area, the removal of the wisdom tooth or teeth may be recommended.
